For some people cleaning their coffee maker is a tedious task but here we have come with a simple solution that will help you in cleaning your coffee maker easily and you will get an answer to how to clean coffee maker with vinegar.

Process of cleaning a coffee maker with vinegar

Vinegar is used as a cleaning agent for last many years and is well known for giving the best results. It removes the calcium buildup and mineral deposits in a coffee maker that later on are responsible for the bitter and sour taste of coffee.

The process of cleaning a coffee maker with vinegar is as follows:

What do you need?

  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Coffee maker

Process:

Step 1: Remove the filter and other unwanted materials

Before starting the cleaning process make sure the filter basket has been removed and other coffee grounds and other unwanted material that might be present in the coffee maker have been removed. Also pour out the water if present in it.

Step 2: Rinse out the filter basket

The filter basket is the part where coffee grounds are stuck and needs to be removed immediately by rinsing it with warm water. Use dishwasher soap and rinse it properly with clean water. Then place the basket again in the coffee maker after removing all the things that are stuck on the basket.

Step 3: Mix vinegar and water

Make a mixture of vinegar and water by adding 1 part of vinegar in 2 parts of water. You can check the ratio that is used for a particular coffee maker to save it from any side effects.

The ratio of vinegar and water also depends upon the amount of calcium and mineral buildup in the machine.

Step 4: Cleaning of the coffee maker

Pour this mixture into the coffee maker and make sure that the mixture is enough to fill the machine properly. Run the brew cycle and stop it halfway while avoiding it to complete the cycle.

If you have a clean cycle option in your coffee maker then you can use it instead of the brew cycle as it usually starts and stops that allows different parts of the machine to soak in the solution

Step 5: Soak the mixture in a coffee maker

Let the solution sit there in the coffee maker for about 30 minutes as it will give time to the solution to tackle the mineral and calcium buildup caused due to the use of hard water in the coffee maker.

Step 6: Rinsing the coffee maker

After 30 minutes again run the brew cycle completely and pour out the mixture from the machine. Don’t worry if there are remnants left in the coffee maker it will get rinsed off. Add some fresh water and again run the complete brew cycle.

Wash it again and again until the smell of vinegar does not get washed away.

Step 7: Drying

After completing the cleaning process, clean your coffee maker with a soft dry cloth or keep it in an open space for natural drying. Do not close your coffee maker without drying it completely because moisture will act as a producing ground for bacteria.

Vinegar is a substance that is available in every kitchen and is very easy to use plus it does not come with any drawbacks nor using it is harmful to health. Using vinegar solution once in three months for cleaning the coffee maker lets your machine stay hygienic and bacteria-free and lets you enjoy the best taste of coffee.

Clean with vinegar and enjoy the best coffee just at home.
