Chail is an Attractive Hill Station which is located about 65 km away from Shimla. Situated in the Shivalik region of Himachal Pradesh, it is spread over Sadh Tiba, Pandewa, and Rajgarh.

How to Reach Chail by Air, Train, Road

By Train

The toy train journey from Kalka to Shimla is mesmerizing and passes through 107 tunnels and several arched bridges. The duration of the journey is approximately six hours. The frequency of trains from Kalka to Shimla is quite good, arriving and departing from Shimla daily. Taxis or more are quickly available from Kalka and Shimla to reach Chail.

1. Chail Palace, heritage hotel

Chail Palace is one of the many tourist places to visit. The Maharaja’s Palace is established in 1891 on about 75 acres and has a truly regal setting with spectacular views. Cottages, suites, and rooms with various tariffs can be found by every visitor who wants to have a taste of this majestic hill station. 100 rupees ticket is charged to come to this palace; this money must be deposited while entering the palace. Luxuriously furnished rooms will give you the feel of Maharaja’s building. The property also includes an open-air cafe.

It is said that when the British stopped Raja Patiala from coming to Shimla, Maharaja Rajendra Singh got this palace built here at this place and made Chail the summer capital. All the things that the royal family used at that time are present here in this palace, such as old paintings, sculptures, and photography samples, are also included.

It is also a royal restaurant, where any traveler can sit and enjoy the food. If a traveler has to stay in the rooms of King Maharaja inside this palace, he can stay by paying the reasonable price of the room. This palace is spread over 75 acres, and deodar forests surround this palace.

2. Gurudwara Sahib Chail

Gurdwara Sahib is located behind Chail Bus Stand. In 1907, the Gurdwara Sahib was built by Raja Bhupendra Singh. This gurudwara looks like a church, this gurdwara, which looks like a church, after 1947, when the Punjab government became Himachal. This church went under the supervision of the Himachal government.

Baba Pritpal Singh’s entire family has been serving this Gurudwara for the past years. The government is not coming forward in the service of this Gurdwara Sahib, nor does any preacher come to bow down; the reason is that no offerings of any kind are offered.

3. Cricket Stadium

Maharaja Bhupendra Singh laid the foundation stone of Chail’s hill station and got many other infrastructural projects established. The cricket stadium is located at a distance of 2 km from Chail Market. He is the man behind the grand Chail Palace and Chail Cricket Ground. Yes, at the height of 2144 meters, this cricket stadium is the first and largest globally, which Maharaja Patiala built-in 1893. The Indian Army is now looking after the grounds, so civilians cannot enter the premises, but one can look around and walk around the grounds.

4. Sidh Baba Mandir

There is an exciting story behind Siddha Baba’s temple built by Maharaja Bhupendra Singh, another Chail highlight. The local people believe this temple of Chail that this temple is the protector of Chail. It is said that a saint appeared in the dream of Maharaja Bhupendra Singh and told him about the place of his meditation. Then Maharaja Bhupendra Singh took the initiative to build a shrine to honor the saint’s presence. Built in 1891, the shrine of Siddha Baba is a place of the Holy Spirit, and every traveler visits this temple to pay respect and seek the saint’s blessings.

5. Kali Ka Tibba in Chail

Chail visit is incomplete without a visit to Mata Kali Ka Tibba. This temple is situated on top of a hill, and as the name suggests, Kali Ka Tibba is dedicated to Goddess Kali Mata. Kali Tibba is located at a distance of 6 km from Chail town. Kali Mata’s temple is on the small side of this hill, which the local people worshiped. The main temple is the temple of Kali Mata, Panchmukhi Hanuman, and the temple of Shiva.

All the buildings are visible from the top of the temple. There is a lovely view from the top of the temple. The view of the temple is visible in the evening when the sunset occurs. 6. Chail Wildlife Sanctuary

Situated in Chail, a vast sanctuary spread over ​​110 square kilometers and home to many wide varieties of wildlife. Chail Sanctuary was established in the year 1976.

Some of the famous animal species of the park include wild boar, goral, sambar, spotted deer, Himalayan black bear, common langur, flying squirrel, etc. European deer were introduced by the former Maharaja of Patiala even 50 years ago, but according to the survey, no one saw in the year 1988.

7. Stoned Kumbh Shiv Temple
